The leading contender for the GOP nomination, former President Donald Trump, recently expressed deep concerns about the inherent risks associated with artificial intelligence (AI), labeling it as ‘the most dangerous thing out there.’ In an upcoming interview on Fox Business’ Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo, scheduled to air on February 4, Trump emphasized the absence of a definitive solution to the challenges posed by AI.

Highlighting AI as a formidable threat, Trump underscored its potential for military applications, cautioning that it could extend into other realms. He stressed the urgency of addressing the issue swiftly, stating, ‘something has to be done about this, and it has to be done fast.

The former president also addressed the issue of deepfake technology, expressing alarm at its capabilities to imitate individuals convincingly. Referring to deepfakes as a ‘tremendous problem,’ Trump noted that even experts struggle to find a solution. He recounted a recent incident where he observed a deepfake impersonation of himself endorsing a product, highlighting the challenge of distinguishing between genuine and manipulated content.

These remarks follow a recent incident where Trump appeared on camera with what seemed to be red splotches on his hands. While initially reported as blood from a papercut, Trump suggested to Fox News’ Mark Meredith on January 31 that AI could potentially be responsible for the peculiar marks.

The former president’s comments underscore his apprehension about the far-reaching impact and potential misuse of AI technology in various facets of society.
